Drummers @ Cameo in Brooklyn (January 26th, 2010)

Here is a video of Drummers (which is what we finally named Bobby & Brian after all these years) taken by Jenn at BLT / IDM from our show at Cameo in Brooklyn on January 26th.  She calls us The Drummers, but we really don't need that article before our name.

Check BLT / IDM for videos of Pretty & Nice (playing a new song with a new drummer who isn't me) and The Drunken Sufis (who may be the best evolution in punk to come about in a long time).

Bobby & Brian Recording (November 19th, 2009)

This is some video from a recording session for a Bobby & Brian record.

It took Brian one try to do his guitar track for this song and that's pretty much how this entire recording has gone so far.  I spent in total just over 4 hours getting a drum sound and recording 7 songs that we hadn't played together in almost 2 years.  Not counting food time Brian did all his work a year after that in a little more than 5 hours.

And here is a picture of Brian and the amp wall.

Emperor X & Friends - Addison Aceh (November 7th, 2009)

Here is a video from The Butcher Shop of Emperor X with me and friends playing guitar.

Rumor is that there was a bunch more video taken on at the rooftop show by the On A Friday folks.  They promised last Thursday to be the day it would appear, hopefully it shows up soon.  It will certainly look better than mine.

Emperor X Rooftop Show

On November 6th and 7th I played three shows with Emperor X (aka Chad Matheny).  The first time I met Chad was at The Lit Lounge in New York City.  To everyone's surprise he agreed to play a show with Pretty & Nice, and then let us be his backing band for a few songs.  This time the backing band was as many guitar as we could find, with every string tuned to B.

There is a bunch of video from this show that will be put together soon, and some more from the 2 others we all played.  All the pictures come from somewhere associated with On A Friday, except two which came from Facebook somewhere.  They have a ton more pictures on their site as well.

KEXP interviews Pretty & Nice

This is in New York City during CMJ 2008. I look a little silly with those glasses and a Christmas sweatshirt on in the beginning of October, but being just a little ridiculous, and acting like I didn't notice, were both part of the "post-irony" trip we convinced ourselves we were taking.

Pitchfork Review of "Get Young"

Pitchfork doesn't hate "Get Young" by Pretty & Nice.

Anola's Recovery - May 12th, 2006

Wonderful Spells - Dead Wrong (October 10th, 2008)

I took this video of Wonderful Spells at a show in Burlington, VT where Pretty & Nice were celebrating the release of our album "Get Young".

Bo Moore, who has been playing bass in Pretty & Nice, has also sang and played the guitar in Wonderful Spells for about ever. They have just put out a new EP called "The Haunted Garage" with this song on it and you can download the whole thing on their website.

Recording Drums for "Nuts & Bolts"

This picture is of me in my old house, Jeremy's studio, and the Pretty & Nice rehearsal space in Brighton, MA recording the song "Nuts & Bolts" from the Pretty & Nice album "Get Young".

On my right is a bass drum turned on it's end with some junk on top that was ridiculously hard to reach for every down beat in the verses. The ribbon crash never got used, and I even took it off half way through recording. There is also a hi-hat stand with two splash cymbals on it that I used throughout the song being hidden by a crash cymbals. I figure this is sometime near the end of January of 2008.

This Year, Change @ All Asia

Sometime in January of 2006 I had just come home from tour with Sparrows Swarm And Sing, and This Year, Change was offered a show at All Asia in Cambridge, MA two days later. The band was just me so I contacted some friends, we practiced together once, and then played a show.

Jesse Kristin plays in Jukebox The Ghost. Mike McDuffee at the time was playing in Lucy Grace. The three of us played in The Farside Frenzy together. Darren Sullo is now playing in Letterday and at the time was playing with me in Anola's Recovery. Jesse also played in Anola's Recovery before I was in the band.
